HI I'm Zach

my pronouns are he/him

When I was younger, I noticed I couldn’t see the signs on the highway anymore when I was driving and I started to squint to be able to see where I was going. After a while, squinting worked less and I was tired of struggling to see, so I finally decided to get glasses. When I put them on I was amazed because a new world opened up for me. I had no idea how distorted my vision had gotten until I saw what good vision was like. I found my own mental health journey to be the same- when I got a better mental perspective, I realized how distorted my thinking was before, and I could see how I played into my own problems.

My name is Zach Walters and I am a human before I am a therapist. I have had my own struggles: addiction, recovery, and overcoming anxiety/panic symptoms. Along the way, I found a new pair of glasses: I learned to see my problems in a way that is workable. Therapy, exercise, mindfulness, and meditation are a big part of my personal story and I believe they can help anyone who is suffering.

Whether your current prescription is anxiety, depression, trauma, or obsessive thinking, we can work together to build a new lens to see the world through. I am the therapist that says things that  you never think your therapist would say, and I find that humor often helps in approaching
problems. Having an authentic relationship with my clients is the top priority for me, and I don’t believe in being a “therapy robot”. I provide a highly supportive, fun (yes, fun), and focused environment to help clients take tangible steps towards a more fulfilling life. You might find it
helps just to talk to someone that relates to feelings that “normal” people don’t understand, but we can do more than that. When you are ready, we will work together to come up with concrete goals and determine what progress looks like to you. I specialize in working with teenage and adult clients who struggle with dissociative symptoms (feelings of unreality/separation from self), anxiety, and/or substance abuse as part of their mental health issues. Since 2020, I have worked with clients across a variety of settings in  rehousing programs, inpatient rehabilitation centers, and outpatient community mental health.
During this time, I have utilized Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to assist clients in learning to relax, enjoy hobbies, navigate difficult relationships, find their identity, and connect with others on a deeper
level. I am certified in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and have attended numerous trainings on working with anxiety, PTSD, and mood/personality disorders. I am passionate about the work I do and helping people to enjoy living life again is of utmost
importance to me. I won’t ever ask you to do something I wouldn’t be willing to do, and yes, I believe that most good therapists go to therapy. If you are feeling stuck, helpless, hopeless, or overwhelmed, you’re in the right place! Schedule a free consultation to get a new perspective on
your problem.
